10 Video Games We’re Dying To Play (Even Though They’ll Suck)
1. Marvel's Midnight Suns
With the exception of Spider-Man, Marvel keeps coming up short in the gaming world. Marvel's Avengers is more glitch than game. Guardians of the Galaxy was great, but the Switch port was unplayable. And let's be honest, you forgot Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 came out, didn't you?
And yet, comic fans embraced the hype when Marvel's Midnight Suns was unveiled. On the surface, everything looked stellar.
To mix up the overindulged formula of Marvel, this tactical RPG has a much darker edge, focusing on paranormal characters like Ghost Rider, Blade, Nico, Magik, and the Runaways battling lesser-known enemies, such as Doctor Faustus, Chton, and Lilith. Although popular heroes like Doctor Strange, Hulk, and Wolverine are in the roster, the promos aren't saturated with them, giving unappreciated characters a chance to shine.
Sadly, the hype train for Midnight Suns derailed for many when the developers uttered those dreaded words "random ability cards". If you were expecting to wail on enemies like in Batman: Arkham or Spider-Man, put that idea out of your mind. Instead, the spontaneity of combat will be constantly interrupted by the player whipping out cards to decide their manoeuvres. Yay.
Another element that will affect if Midnight Suns sinks or swims is whether it relies on loot boxes and micro-transactions. Although the devs ensured fans that the gaming purchases are cosmetic, gamers are justifiably cynical, after hearing similar false promises in the past.
