10 Video Games With Stealth Missions That Are Totally Out Of Place

9. The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings

ln The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, our hero is a well-defined, solid sorcerer and not the blank slate figure that you get in most Western RPGs. Of course, you determine Geralt's approach in certain ways, but never to the extent that the sorcerer would suddenly fall completely out of character.

Except in the mission 'Where is Triss Merigold?', where we must sneak into a Nilfgaard camp and scope out the place. For the first time we can not rely on Geralt's wizarding skills alone; once in the camp, the stealth mode is automatically activated and we are not allowed to get seen otherwise Geralt will be killed on the spot! Caution becomes a virtue as we approach the alley of tents and wait for the staggering guard to come out and finish his business. Only then can we hurry to the chef and cast a spell on him.

Luckily, the mission only lasts a few minutes but the superiority that Geralt usually radiates everywhere else in the game is set aside for this quest and sadly, this backfired. It may well be argued that this section should have been scrapped entirely as it comes across as highly underdeveloped and feels like a last minute decision made at the expense of the game experience.
