10 Video Games With The Biggest Downgrade From Reveal To Launch

8. The Witcher 3

This is the one game on this list that is sure to ruffle some feathers. And that's because the released version of The Witcher 3 looked amazing. However, there's no denying that it was a far cry from the epic trailers we saw before launch.

If we take a walk back in history to 2013, we'll find the first gameplay trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We know now that trailer was a mixture of CGI and gameplay because it looks infinitely better than the final product.

We see Geralt riding Roach between trees with jaw-dropping weather effects, a more action-oriented camera angle, a burning village with vastly more realistic fire effects. And then there's CGI made to look like gameplay, and cinematic fights scenes with more animated monsters.

There's plenty of downgraded effects in The Witcher 3, from textures to weather to combat, but the biggest downgrade appears to be in the overall cinematic nature of the game. The way Geralt moves in the actual game is borderline janky, while the trailers make him look smooth and lifelike. And honestly, there are worst example of this than the reveal trailer, as you'll see in the video above.

Good as the game may be, there's no denying the big downgrades between that pre-release trailers and the product that released in 2015.
