10 Video Games With The Biggest Downgrade From Reveal To Launch
9. Rainbow Six Siege
Siege's reveal at E3 was one that showcased an incredible, tense multiplayer shooter in claustrophobic environments. It looked remarkably cinematic with realistic player movements, and environments with spectacular lighting and destructive environments. The released version of the game though, was a lot less impressive.
Rainbow Six: Siege is pretty much just another first-person shooter but inside confined environments with more tactics and a handful of unique gameplay mechanics. Gone were the lifelike player movements, the realistic lighting and the eye-catching effects.
There was also downgrades in regards to the intro to each map, with the trailer showcasing an exciting helicopter drop-in sequence that never made it to the final game, and the enemies boarding up windows that are automatically boarded up at the start of each level.
Initially, the game tasked one set of players as playing as terrorists, with the other are a special forces unit. The retail version scrapped the terrorist angle, seemingly to avoid any minimal controversy. Also gone are the interactive hostages who were well designed, the dynamic smoke, debris and spark effects, and more.
The current retail version of the game looks and plays fine but lest we forget the very noticeable downgrades between reveal and release.
