10 Video Games With Unique Art Styles You Need To See
3. Inside
Playdead already had our interests piqued when they released Limbo back in 2010: a black and white sombre affair about the afterlife (surprisingly enough). So when Inside was announced as a spiritual successor, you could colour us interested.
Except that that's pretty much the only thing that'd be coloured about Inside, as it continues the developer's trend for the bleak and minimal looking aesthetic to deliver their adventure.
But, and I do mean this, that is not a criticism. Inside is a beautiful and unique game because of its limited colour palette, as it keeps both us and the unnamed boy we control in the dark.
The phrase "hauntingly beautiful" would make me sound like an art snob, but that's what it is. What few glimpse of colour we do get are drip fed to us, to spur us on to figure out just what the hell we're meant to be doing.
It adds to the mystery that Inside oozes out, feeding that compulsive need to push on and well... I won't spoil it. It needs to be experienced.
