10 Video Games You Couldn't Make Yourself Finish
7. Alien: Isolation
Though Alien: Isolation is widely acclaimed for its intense atmosphere and spot-on engagement with Alien lore, it's also a game with a shockingly low completion rate.
Just 15.3% of PS4 owners have beaten the game, and while some might simply be too rattled by its anxious survival horror gameplay to carry on, there is another likely explanation - its wildly overlong length.
When Alien: Isolation was first announced, many assumed it would likely be a bite-sized romp of, say, 6-8 hours, because honestly how long can you really make a game where you're being continually stalked by a Xenomorph before the fear factor becomes diminished?
And that's precisely Isolation's problem - it's actually around 15 hours long.
As mesmerising as the game is for many hours, there comes a point where fatigue undeniably sets in, as you're inundated with repetitive fetch quests and the introduction of non-alien enemies - namely the Working Joe androids - start to feel like padding.
As a tongue-in-cheek response to the common criticism that Alien: Isolation is too long, someone even recently released an "Impossible Campaign" mod, cutting the campaign length down to a mere minute.
