10 Video Games You Couldn't Make Yourself Finish
5. Assassin's Creed Valhalla
The Assassin's Creed franchise's shift into open world gameplay resulted in the newer games also being much longer, culminating in Assassin's Creed Valhalla - a game packed with so much Ubisoft Open World Nonsense as to basically border on self-parody.
Though the world looks fantastic and the gameplay fundamentals are rock solid, Ubisoft basically buried a 20-30 hour main story inside of a gruelling, stamina-depleting 60-hour slog.
There's little-to-no attempt to mask the avalanche of bloat on offer, as you're forced to repeat the same quest types over and over again ad nauseum.
And of course, that's without even getting into the side quests and general exploration on offer, which can cause enough of a distraction to ensure that many never made it to the end of the story before losing interest.
At least Ubisoft appears to have taken the criticism to heart, as follow-up Assassin's Creed Mirage could be beaten in around 15 hours, and the most recent entry, Assassin's Creed Shadows, rocked a campaign of around 30-40 hours.
