10 Video Games You Didn't Know Had Multiplayer

2. Just Cause 2

GTA San Andreas
Avalanche Studios

You'd be forgiven for not knowing that Just Cause 2 had its own multiplayer mode, given that it actually didn't launch with one but was instead created for PC by a group of modder enthusiasts.

The mod basically took the base island map, stripped all the campaign logic out of it, and allowed potentially thousands - but usually hundreds - of players to battle one another, even spawning weapons and vehicles at will.

The mod ultimately proved so popular that it received the blessing of developers Avalanche Studios, such that it was later included as official DLC and even received achievement support.

Even over a decade after the game's release some servers still remain operational, and because Avalanche themselves have never produced official multiplayer modes for either Just Cause 3 or 4, it once again fell to the fan community to also create a mod for the third game.
