10 Video Games You Didn't Realise Were Cancelled In 2023

Ironically, Evolve is a game you probably didn't realise wasn't cancelled either, right?

The much-hyped asymmetrical multiplayer shooter launched in February 2015 to solid reviews, though amid criticism for its progression system and lack of content, the player-base quickly fell off a cliff.

The next year, 2K transitioned the game into a free-to-play model called Evolve: Stage 2, with promises of constant updates and content drops, though later that year the publisher reversed tack and decided to end support, while keeping the servers online for the time being.

In September 2018, 2K finally shut the dedicated servers down, leaving players to rely on peer-to-peer play instead and rendering the game functionally dead.

Yet that wasn't the end of the story - in late 2022 2K unexpectedly switched Evolve's official servers back on and even re-enabled daily log-in bonuses, seemingly bringing the game back from the grave.

But this revival was sadly short-lived, as this past July 2K shut the servers back down again for, in their own words, "the final time."

All the same, that Evolve has maintained anything close to a passionate player-base for close to a decade is extremely impressive.
