4. Knockout City
Remember Knockout City? EA's attempt to turn dodgeball into a live service eSport received solid reviews out of the gate, but just didn't muster the staying power necessary to survive long term.
Within two months of its release, the game's concurrent player count on Steam had dropped below 1,000 and basically never recovered.
Though developer Velan Studios attempted to rejuvenate it by transitioning into free-to-play a year after release, it boosted the player-base for a mere matter of weeks before cratering once again.
And so, this past February they announced that Knockout City would shut down in June, though in the very least allowed those playing the Windows version of the game to host their own private servers.
All the same, the end of official support effectively killed the game in every practical sense, with Knockout City's Steam player count now down to single digits.
