10 Video Games You INSTANTLY Knew Were Trash
7. Driv3r
Even though most players didn't expect the third Driver game to be a serious contender to Grand Theft Auto in the sandbox action game stakes, there was at least optimism that it'd harness the power of the PS2/Xbox to deliver a majorly beefed-up threequel.
With Driv3r set to introduce on-foot gameplay and shooting to the series, there was the expectation that the worst it could be is a not-bad, not-great facsimile of the recent 3D GTA games.
But it was so, so much worse than that.
Though Driv3r's opening cinematic is actually pretty damn slick, it's all downhill from the moment the player gains control of protagonist Tanner.
The on-foot controls are horribly awkward and unintuitive, the shooting sucks, and even the vehicular handling and physics aren't great.
It was flagrantly obvious that Atari rushed this thing to market before GTA: San Andreas came out and sucked all the oxygen out of the room, but Driv3r was still left gasping for air regardless.
