10 Video Games You Play For HOURS Before Starting

5. Half-Life 2

Put those well-sharpened pitchforks down for a moment and hear us out - Half-Life 2 is an undeniably phenomenal game, that's surely best remembered for introducing the world to one of the most legendary weapons in video game history, the Gravity Gun.

The Gravity Gun allows players to pick up objects and propel them away, and much later in the game, is enhanced to even allow Gordon Freeman to throw Overwatch Soldiers around like ragdolls.

The Gravity Gun basically makes the game, no matter its other accomplishments, and yet it's easy to forget that Half-Life 2 doesn't actually give you the weapon until around two hours into the story - that's about a quarter of the total play-time.

This isn't to say that Half-Life 2's opening hours aren't good, because they absolutely are, but simply that everything leading up to the Gravity Gun - trekking through City 17 and slogging through the canals to the Resistance base - just feels like a prologue.

Once you get that sweet, sweet Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator in your hands, though, Half-Life 2 really begins.
