10. System Shock 3
System Shock 3 is one of those projects that's always kind of existed in the shadows.
That's partly because the messaging hasn't been all that clear; the rights to the franchise were bought in 2012 and a full remake of the original game was announced for 2020, but then in 2015 OtherSide entertainment - a new team headed up by some core creatives who worked on System Shock before - acquired the licensing rights to create a proper sequel in System Shock 3.
It's a confusing history made worse because the project itself has yet to really grab mainstream attention, and has only seen sporadic updates since, most recently via a teaser trailer in 2019.
It's unclear whether this third game is going to be a bold step forward, or something familiar that will appeal to those lapsed fans of the originals, but players will find out sooner or later when it eventually drops on PC.
