10 Video Games You Won't Believe Got REJECTED
7. Battle Of The Sith Lords
The first of two Star Wars cancellations on our list as a result of Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm. Battle of the Sith Lords,
often referred to as simply Darth Maul, has some… strange history. Developers Red Fly were generally thrown in the air and spun around by various LucasArts employees. Even George himself had brainstorming sessions with them about what
Darth Maul could be like and how he should “be friends” with Darth Talon,
despite the historical time difference.
They were given encouragement to prototype, working with any ideas involving Darth Maul after his death in Episode 1. Beyond giving Maul some robotic legs, Red Fly floundered, trying to produce action-based content with stealth sprinkled on the top. With footage showing the game wasn’t too far from The Force Unleashed or Arkham Asylum, including a double-edged lightsaber, force powers and the heavy involvement of Sith lore.
However, out of nowhere, LucasArts informed Red Fly they would no longer be required to work on the project. They gave no detailed explanation and used the Disney acquisition as the reason for the cancellation.
