10 Video Games You’ll Still Be Playing Long Into 2016
9. Bloodborne
The latest game in the Souls dynasty is, if you'll pardon the pun, a real beast of a game. While it didn't take long for Bloodborne's most avid players to slash their way to completing it, the unique New Game Plus system used by From Software encourages repeat playthroughs. While NG+ is essentially just a higher difficulty setting, what's special is that the story continues in terms of items you find, and how your existing character progresses. This means that you get to keep your level, insights, items, weapons and everything else from your last play-through other than keys and other items that let you access areas of the game world. Once you've completed NG+, you can move onto NG+2, NG+3 and so on all the way up to NG+7, with the hardcore players telling you that the game isn't really complete until you get through them all. Alternatively, you can create a new character with a completely different 'build' and play style for a fresh challenge. The brilliant yet difficult-to-master combat mechanics are deep enough that you'll keep picking up plenty of new tricks in repeat play-throughs. There apparently won't be any more DLC for Bloodborne, but the recently-released Old Hunters is essentially what was originally planned as two DLCs rolled into one, and offers a whole new region to explore that'll keep you on the hunt well into 2016.
