10 Videos Games That Totally Trolled Players

6. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - Rain

Yes, of course Midway did it again. They took a page out of Capcom's book by doing an iterative sequel: Just as Capcom released five different games titled "Street Fighter II," Midway followed up Mortal Kombat 3 with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

There were more hidden characters than ever, including the actual debut of Ermac, and one was of particular interest: Rain. A ninja in a purple colored version of the outfit that Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and so on wore. How did we know about Rain? He could be seen in the game's attract mode hitting a combo on Shao Khan.

Well, we were all wrong. Rain wasn't in the game. Midway being Midway, they put the Rain teaser in the attract mode to get players looking for him. Again, the more they were looking for secrets, the more they played, the more quarters they dumped into the game, and the longer it lasted in arcades. It wasn't long before Rain became real, though: He was a playable character from the start in the game's console ports.
