10 Ways Assassin’s Creed 2017 Could Be The Best Yet

1. Finally Take The Series To A Japanese Location

In both 2012 and 2014, Ubisoft's creative director Alex Hutchinson gave interviews in which he explained that feudal Japan would be one of the "worst" settings for an Assassin's Creed game. This came following constant fan requests for this location to feature in the series, but Hutchinson dismissed the requests by noting that the suggestions were the "most boring settings".

It seems, then, that Ubisoft have been emphatically against a Japanese setting thanks to a large number of series' already having based themselves there. With the popularity of Assassin's Creed waning and in need of a shot of adrenaline however, this could finally be the time where the developers bend to the wishes of their remaining loyal fans.

A Japanese Assassin's Creed title could stand out from the crowd, too. The open world setting hasn't been well-mined in the likes of the more linear Tenchu, and the historical focus would certainly see this game carry much more of a grounded authority than anything that's come before it. Ubisoft may see it as an easy way out for their series, but in reality that's just what's needed for Assassin's Creed right now!
