One of the frustrations of some of the more recent Assassin's Creed titles is that they take too long to get you into the action of actually being a badass assassin. Obviously introductory tutorials are a necessary evil for new gamers, but they don't need to be dragged out as much as they often are.

For a series with a core mechanic as well-established as that of Assassin's Creed, the old ground only needs to be retrodden very lightly. It's important to capture the excitement and keep people interested early on, so kicking the action up a notch by spending less time reiterating well-known commands would be a good start.

Having the new character - assuming there is one - start of as a member of the creed of assassins from the very beginning would help this a lot. Sure it was fun to chart the progress of the likes of Edward and Connor from zero to hero, but picking up as a hero like Altair again is a much-needed change.
