10 Ways Destiny 2 Is Already Better Than The Original

10. In-Game Lore, Not Just On An App

If there's one area Destiny takes the most heat, it's the story. Let's not lie, the story is there. The lore is there. Characters have backgrounds, and there are rich back stories to many events and items in the Destiny universe. However, they're hidden away in walls of text on the internet, completely removed from the actual game experience.

For instance, you might not know that the Queen's Wrath is setting up R&D programs to harness and use the power of the Taken. It's no surprise if you didn't, because the only mention of this is tucked deep in the Grimoire cards on the Destiny app. This is just background information though, let's talk actual story.

In Destiny, in-game there is essentially zero narrative. The only true story that starts to take any shape comes in with the Taken King DLC, which came in a full year after the initial release of Destiny. Rise of Iron was the most cinematic and fleshed out story Destiny saw, complete with side quests that even gave lore about exotic weapons, and this was two years after release.

If we can look at Rise of Iron moving forward, we can see a clear shift into storytelling in game by Bungie. Destiny 2's gameplay reveal saw heavy dialogue and the words "cinematic campaign" were used over and over again by presenters.

On top of this, Bungie has confirmed they are doing away with Grimoire. So say goodbye to Grimoire cards, and hello to an actual story.
