Without voice chat integration, the early days of Destiny were a communication wilderness. Guardians communicated through a series of dance moves, points and waves - it was a simpler time. All jokes aside, communication has been a struggle in Destiny since launch. Of course, part of the problem lies in many players using cross-game chat systems (like Xbox Live's Party Chat) to talk to their friends without having to play the same game; there's not really much Bungie can do about that. That's why the emote system is so vital: being able to communicate quickly and efficiently through gestures and text is a great alternative to voice chat, especially in the fast-paced world of the Crucible. Expanding the emote options available on the D-Pad could give players access to tactical and social gestures, aiding those who aren't using the in-game voice channels. Of course, the number of dance moves would need to be increased too, but that's just a given.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
