10 Ways God Of War 4 Is Already The Best In Years

2. Bear McCreary’s Soundtrack Will Up The Audio Ante

How do you top the God of War trilogy’s iconic soundtrack? Enlist the help of one of television’s finest contemporary composers, of course.

The new God of War is scored by none other than Bear McCreary, the man behind the infectious Walking Dead theme tune as well as the sonic output in other hit US shows including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Battlestar Galactica.

Kratos’s new theme tune is a thunderous cacophony of low orchestral instruments, folk percussion, and Nordic stringed instruments, set against the sound of an Icelandic choir comprising deep male vocals and powerful female harmonies.

In short, McCreary’s score hits all of the right notes, evoking the timeless original God of War theme - albeit with a Scandinavian twist - while standing tall as a unique composition.
