10 Ways Naughty Dog Could Make Crash Bandicoot Work In 2016

5. Keep The Story Simple

Platformers have never been renowned for their complex narratives. In the genre's formative years, 2D platformers asked players to run from left to right across the screen across countless levels, to eventually reach a finale with the big bad guy who needs to be vanquished. It's a formula that served Mario, Donkey Kong and other games well for years. Crash's early titles followed such a formula: rescue your girlfriend from the evil Doctor Cortex; gather crystals scattered throughout the game world to stop Cortex; travel through time to stop the villains collecting said power crystals and ruling the world. These might be slight over-simplifications of the original trilogy's narratives, but a clarity and simplicity will suit the story more than a winding, complex plot that jumps all over the place.
