10 Ways Rocksteady Could Make The Perfect Superman Video Game
9. No Kryptonite
At this point, kryptonite is one of the laziest weapons in a Superman writer's toolkit. Writers need to make their protagonists vulnerable if they want to create tension in a story, but fans are sick of seeing kryptonite being overused as an easy way of putting Clark in danger.
Rocksteady has never been a developer to rely on lazy tropes though, and their Superman game should avoid including the character's biggest weakness altogether.
The best part of the studio's Arkham series was that for the first time ever, players actually got to 'be the Batman', and if Rocksteady decided to nerf Superman they would be missing out on living up to the character in the same way.
Instead it would be more interesting if the devs made Supes feel vulnerable through the writing or gameplay, making him suffer with the consequences of his actions in a way that would convey the character's humanity.
Or, if they had to include kryptonite, it should only be as part of an expansive arsenal designed to take the superhero down, rather than the only endgame weapon.
