2. Family Sharing
Right before Valve made its three announcements, the company already announced that Steam would be getting "Family Sharing." With this feature, family members or friends can take turns playing the same copy of a game owned by a Steam user while earning their own set of Steam achievements and save their own progress on another PC. In addition, there will be restriction options for parents to block their kids from playing mature titles, which should alleviate the whole "violent video games' impact on minors" issue. Now Family Sharing will be coming to Steam Boxes via Steam OS in the near future. Microsoft had a similar feature planned for the Xbox One but dropped because it was a part of its DRM policies that were poorly received by consumers. Meanwhile the Wii U and the PS4 remain in the dark over Family Sharing. That leaves the Steam Box with another advantage over its competition for now.
