10 Ways The Nintendo Switch Is Better Than PS4 & Xbox One

This underdog can deliver a knockout blow.

Nintendo Switch Ps4 Xbox One

With the gaming climate of Summer 2017 being pretty barren, it's easy to take a step back and analyse just where the industry is at right now. Sony have definitely had the best year of the generation so far, firing out monumental exclusives like Horizon Zero Dawn, Nioh, NieR and Crash's N. Sane Trilogy, and the Xbox One has... erm *awkward cough*, but it's the Switch that's really taken off better than even Nintendo could have imagined.

Thanks to a phenomenal mix of free online multiplayer, pixel-perfect instalments in legendary franchises like Mario Kart and Zelda, innovative new IP like Splatoon and ARMS, the embracement of indie titles and a gorgeous form factor, where Sony and Microsoft have all the power, the Switch has heart.

Indeed, although it's very easy to point at the lack of 4K capability and 60 fps as a negative, Nintendo have reminded the world that such PC gaming-like qualms were never why console gaming took off in the first place.

We want games, accessed fast, sometimes a handful at a time, with fantastic mechanics. And where the competition has gotten lost in side-by-side comparisons where you have to squint to see the difference, Nintendo are standing firm, remaining the bastion of video game entertainment we've known and loved for over 30 years.

Take heed, Sony and Microsoft. This is how you deliver a truly worthwhile video game console.
