There's a whole other feature to the Switch that Nintendo have completely skirted over - its touchscreen.

A multi-capacitive device, unlike the Wii U Gamepad it'll recognise multiple points of contact, yet aside from a random Google search or breakdown of the system's specifications, Nintendo are yet to showcase any of its features.

And why is that an issue? Firstly, because it aids in clarifying whether a tablet-based device will have such basic functionality, and second, it allows Nintendo to bring across both Super Mario Run, and any other mobile-based apps going forward.

The company have already stated they'll be supporting mobile devices with more titles after Super Mario Run, and you can guarantee a far healthier battery life out of running such things on the Switch, as oppose to titles like Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey. It's not that having a games console with touchscreen functionality would be a unique selling point, but it's certainly one that would reinforce the idea of variety when it comes to the system overall.
