9. History Lessons

Admit it. History was never your favorite subject in school. Even if it was, there are numerous things you may have missed out on. Whether you slept through it, or simply couldn't retain all of that information, video games do a great job of jogging your memory and making you aware of historical tidbits that may have previously eluded you. Whether it be myth, legend, or legitimate historical events, games like Assassin's Creed and Uncharted do much to spice things up, offering credible, albeit somewhat altered takes on history's most intriguing pages. Want to witness first hand the signing of the Declaration of Independence or the Battle of Bunker Hill? Want to have the chance to interact with American elites Thomas Jefferson and Paul Revere? No problem, just play Assassin's Creed 3 (developed by Ubisoft) to delve right into the American Revolution. Feeling a bit more adventurous? Tackle the ancient Lost City of Shambhala or the Atlantis of the Sands in Uncharted 2 and 3 respectively (developed by Naughty Dog). The sheer amount of effort and creativity that likely went into crafting such detailed, credible, and intriguing stories off of widely acknowledged facts cannot be understated.
