10 Weird And Awesome Video Game Hallucination Scenes

8. Call of Duty: Black Ops

BlackOps

You play as Alex Mason, strapped to a chair and being interrogated by your unseen captors about the location of a numbers station, a shortwave radio station that is widely believed to broadcast coded messages to undercover agents. Alex then recalls the events leading up to his interrogation. After failing to assassinate Castro in Cuba - due to Mason having killed a double - the real Castro ends up capturing him and handing him over to General Nikita Dragovich to be held captive at Vorkuta Gulag. While incarcerated, Manson befriends Viktor Reznov, who fans will remember from CoD: World at War. Reznov recounts to Mason about losing his team to a new nerve agent known as Nova 6 and the identities of his enemies, Dragovich, his right-hand man Lev Kravchenko, and ex-Nazi scientist Friedrich Steiner, who defected to the Soviet Union. Mason and Reznov then lead a prisoner uprising to escape from Vorkuta. Towards the end of the game it is revealed that CIA Agent Hudson (an occasional playable character) and Mason's team mate Weaver are his interrogators. They need Mason due to him being brainwashed into being a Soviet Sleeper by Dragovich and being able to understand the numbers. He is the only one capable of this after the assassination of Steiner. This is the kicker though. It is revealed that Reznov had died during the breakout at Vorkuta, and Mason was only seeing a hallucination due to the traumatic effects of the brainwashing program. Prior to the breakout, Reznov had secretly met Mason to reprogram him to seek out and assassinate Dragovich, Kravchenko and Steiner, instead of Mason's original objective to assassinate President Kennedy. Basically, every time you had fought with Reznov, or met up with him, he wasn't actually real. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0HDTAGbbc0
