5. EverQuest 2 - Ordering Pizza In-Game

EverQuest 2 is a MMORPG in which swords and shields are the tools of everyone's trade, gold and blood are the main currencies, and stock fantasy species populate the giant game world. This combination made for an addictive ride for gamers, so much so that all thoughts of sleep, bathroom breaks, and food are out the window. Whilst Pizza Hut couldn't do anything for the first two problems, they had something in mind for the food problem. The fast-food chain had spotted an opportunity to target hungry gamers and a deal was struck up with the developers that didn't involve any gratuitous pizza pan swords. Instead, the game allowed players to order pizza in-game and have it delivered whilst not needing to leave their virtual adventure. The game got some great publicity and Pizza Hut got to sell more pizzas. It was a win-win scenario. Nearly. Unfortunately for all lazy gamers, there was still the little problem of having to get up mid-game to get the pizza since deliveries only arrived to the front door and not straight to their mouths.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
