10 Weirdest PS1 & PS2 Games That Wouldn't Get Made Today
5. Under The Skin
No, not the weird film with Scarlett Johansson as a man-abducting alien. This is about the quirky alien game. Do not get the two confused during polite dinner conversation.
Plot-wise, it plays akin to Katamari Demacy. You cause all kinds of on-screen mischief at the behest of a higher power, yielding similar results to the Namco series.
Under the Skin predates the epic carnage of Destroy All Humans!, but it's the latter we always remember. For the former though, the politest way to put it would be: it was weird then, it wouldn't pass muster today.
It was a niche game, and that's putting it kindly. Cameos and a level from Resident Evil 3 helped Under the Skin retain its quirk, even if it wasn't a best-selling, high-scorer from Capcom.
Now though?
Well, Destroy All Humans! is getting a remake, and Katamari Demacy rolled off (pun intended) with the wacky crown. If Under the Skin came out now, it'd be called a pale imitator of either, barely registering as a new concept.
