Mortal Kombat had to be included on the list, considering Reptile from the original is directly responsible for popularising hidden characters in gaming.

Though Mortal Kombat has evolved, crossed over with other franchises, and been repeatedly rebooted, unlockable kombatants still play a major part in the series. Some of the most famous hidden characters include a reanimated corpse called Meat, a living inferno called Blaze, and a shadowy demon called Noob Saibot. Although these warriors are strange, they fit into the dark and twisted world of Mortal Kombat.

The same cannot be said about Mokap, who debuted in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. After completing the Konquest mode with every character, you'll unlock a fighter draped in a motion-capture suit (hence his name).

During development, Deadly Alliance's actors wore mocap outfits to capture the movements of the characters. Since Mokap was the prototype for the kombatants, the developers decided to chuck him in as a playable character.

Due to being added to the roster late in development, there wasn't time to give Mokap his own Fatality or any new moves. Nevertheless, it's fun to batter opponents senseless while playing as a character adorned in lightbulbs.
