10 Weirdest Video Game Ports You Won't Believe
4. Tiger LCD Ports
The 80's and 90's were the age of experimentation for the video game industry. Now that there WAS an actual industry now - unlike the first games that emerged in the 70's and early 80's - companies clamored to be the next big thing, which resulted in some pretty amazing things.
This ain't one of them.
Say hello to the Tiger Electronics LCD games. One of the most primitive setups for a game console you're likely to find out there, just a bunch of static images that light up when button inputs are performed, giving the illusion of movement. Not only did this emerge in the age of the NES and Sega Genesis, not only did they survive the rise of Game Boy and Game Gear, not only were they around and thriving when better options were available, stubbornly refusing to die.
But they got everyone. Every game you can imagine got ported over to these things. Along with a library of original games, there was a Tiger handheld for pretty much every beloved video game under the sun. Sonic, Mega Man, Street Fighter, and Altered Beast all got the Tiger's claws.
If these games weren't so absolutely abysmal across the board, one could call their longevity impressive.
