10 Worst Controller Designs Ever

9. Gravis PC GamePad (1992)

The Offender: Gravis The Console: IBM PC Worst Component: The controller body is a less comfortable, asymmetric rip-off of the SNES controller. Redeeming Feature: It was possible to slot a little joystick into the middle of the D-pad for added control in fighting games. To Gravis' credit there wasn't much choice back in the day, when it came to game controllers on PC. The choice was pretty much just between mouse and keyboard, or a joystick, until the Gravis PC Gamepad came along. It's a shame then, that one of the first PC gamepads was a plasticky, uncomfortable knock-off of the classic SNES controller. The buttons would get easily stuck, the asymmetric body was weird and uncomfortable, and the D-Pad was inaccurate. Worst of all, the drivers were finnicky at best, and it could be a royal pain in the ass to get the thing working in the first place. So to all the people unhappy about how long it took for Microsoft to bring out the Xbox One controller's PC drivers: count yourself lucky, at least they didn't outsource the controller design to Gravis.
