10 Worst Games of 2012

1. Amy

Amy has the distinguished honour of not only being the worst game of the year, but also the most disappointing. When I heard that the game's premise centred around playing a woman who has to protect an autistic young girl, my interest was immediately piqued, only for it to be summarily crushed upon realising that Amy is a broken, hugely frustrating experience. Even ignoring the terribly-depicted story, dated graphics and inept voice acting, Amy's gameplay is shocking composed in every way possible, from the irritating control scheme, to the clunky combat and brain-dead stealth mechanics. The worst of all, though, is the puzzle system, which borders on non-sensical, forcing the player to run through countless hoops for seemingly no reason at all. If you managed to make it to the end of Amy, congratulations; I didn't. It's a nigh-on unbearable video game that has an enticing idea, but finds nowhere to go with it, and manages to make every wrong creative and programming decision possible. The result is not only one of the worst games of the year, but probably one of the worst, most ill-conceived games I have ever played. Avoid it like the plague.
