It didnt quite rock the boat in the way we hoped from the trailer, but Dead Island was a solid survival game that offered a lot of bang for buck. Achieving the rare accomplishment of providing a first-person melee combat system that was actually fun, Dead Island was a great package for zombie fanatics. Like seemingly every other popular gaming franchise, Dead Island is currently in the process of being milked out of every last drop. A sort-of sequel arrived in the form of Dead Island: Riptide, Dead Island 2 has been announced, and a MOBA titled Dead Island: Epidemic is on its way. Spinoff game Escape Dead Island was released in November this year, acting as a third-person, low-rent version of its more famous namesake. The entirety of Escape Dead Island felt like filler, with no standout moment to note. Factor in the rough, cel shaded graphics and low replay value, and Escape Dead Island was one of the most mundanely pointless releases of the year.
