7. Xbox One Works Without Kinect

One of the most prominent (and controversial) claims from Microsoft regarding the Xbox One, was that it simply couldn€™t work without the Kinect device attached. Supposedly, the Kinect was just too integral to the whole design of the console, requiring it to operate many important features. Because of this, early adopters of Microsoft€™s latest console were forced to purchase it with the Kinect bundled in, regardless of how open they were to the additional features offered by the camera. In a divisive and not wholly unexpected move, Microsoft announced earlier this year that it would be offering the Xbox One without the Kinect included. To be more precise, they were offering the Xbox One minus Kinect for $100 less than the original package. While this worked out to be a good deal for anyone new to the current generation of consoles, some long-time fans felt betrayed by Microsoft€™s earlier statements.
