10 Worst Open-World Games Of All Time

9. Fable 3

After making an excellent debut and following it up with an even more impressive sequel, all eyes were on the charming Fable series to deliver a satisfying and climactic third game.

Unfortunately, instead of building upon the strengths of the adored second release, Fable 3 pretty much ripped out or butchered everything that made the title so special. The humour was still intact, but combat had been reduced to a few button presses, while the narrative itself failed miserably to engross players in Albion's plight.

The game's shortcomings were crippling, but it didn't help that once again, Peter Molyneux promised a game which far outmatched anything realistically possible at the time. Consequently, when it was discovered that the sequel not only failed to realise those promises, but actually scaled back on the best ideas of the second game, the disappointment of Xbox fans was palpable, and it essentially killed the franchise.
