10 Worst Video Game Bosses Ever

3. Kai Leng - Mass Effect 3 (2012)

There were a lot of strange choices in Mass Effect 3 which stopped it from being the explosive final chapter it was supposed to be. Some of these included irritating slow-motion running sequences and Reapers pursuing the Normandy on the map screen which made traveling between destinations a chore. And the less said about the ending the better.

Another misstep came in the form of new antagonist Kai Leng, a cybernetic assassin working for The Illusive Man.

Not only was he an unnecessary antagonist introduced in the last third of the game when Shepherd’s crew are already embroiled in their fight against the Reapers, Leng is also one of the most derided boss encounters in gaming history.

Shepherd faces off against Leng twice, with their final encounter intended to be the climactic showdown against Cerberus. However, it fell drastically short of the action-packed high point it was supposed to be.

Alongside summoning waves of tough enemies who'd make for a difficult fight on their own, Leng’s lightning-fast speed made him a tricky target. The battle consequently turned into a long slog which took its toll on our patience. But the most grueling factor was trying to deplete Leng’s constantly regenerating shields.
