10 Worst Video Game Checkpoints EVER

3. The Entire Game - Perfect Dark Zero

Grand Theft Auto IV
Rare

Perfect Dark Zero wasn't merely content to be a disappointing prequel to the legendary N64 FPS, but became genuinely aggravating with its enthusiastically backwards checkpoint system.

It's simple: every mission in the game has just a single indiscriminately placed checkpoint, meaning that if you die or otherwise fail during any of the game's 20-30-minute missions, you can be flung back as far as 15 minutes' worth of play.

To make matters worse, those deciding to play on higher difficulties will have even less checkpoints than that, ensuring that an otherwise relatively short experience is padded out to needlessly excruciating length through sheer rote repetition.
