10 Worst Video Game Downgrades That Pissed Off EVERYONE
9. Mass Effect: Andromeda
The dodgy ending in Mass Effect 3 aside (every trilogy has its Jar Jar), there's no denying that the Sci-Fi/RPG series is nothing short of masterful, and the exploits of Shepard, Joker and co. are now the stuff of gaming legend.
How, then, could Bioware possibly follow up this beloved gaming trifecta? What did they have at their disposal to push the franchise forward and innovate?
Well, when we were first introduced to Mass Effect: Andromeda back in 2016, it genuinely looked amazing.
Gorgeous lighting, deep shadows, a huge leap in realistic facial animations, and microscopic detail in the armour and artefacts promised a brand new take on the Mass Effect formula.
The game we actually got, however, was not nearly up to scratch.
It was clear from the outset that the graphics had taken a major hit from the trailers, with none of the subtle yet beautiful effects present in the retail version. Glitches, too. Glitched abound.
Characters would walk like they'd contracted the Genophage, and crew members would just disappear mid cut-scene.
Then there's the faces...
Facial animations which showed so much promise when first teased, now looked like the characters were actually wearing somebody else's face as a mask, Ed Gein-style.
