10 Worst Video Game Downgrades That Pissed Off EVERYONE

3. Anthem

Witcher 3 Downgrade
Bioware

Anthem's tale is a sad one, and its plight regrettable.

When this new Bioware property was first shown off and discussed at E3 2017, it was one to definitely keep an eye on, if not the 'next big thing' from this legendary developer.

Players would get to live out their Iron Man fantasies, flying around in a kick-ass mech suit, weaving in and out of canyons and rocky outcroppings, all the while trading fire with enemies.

With so-called 'loot shooters' like Destiny in vogue at this point, how could Anthem be anything but a success?

Well, it's a familiar story...

The E3 build and eventual retail version of the game may share DNA, but were very different beasts.

Those memorable scenes of our hero flying over vast, sprawling vistas, motion blur adding depth and context, light glinting off armour and arms alike? Yeah, all gone in the finished product.

Vastly reduced draw distances replaced wide open spaces, motion blur was perfunctory at best, and the beautiful, dynamic lighting effects conspicuous by their absence.

Worse, however, the game itself turned out to be a bit... What's the word?

Boring.

Cut to 2020 and the game is now all but dead.
