10 Worst Video Game Launches EVER
2. Aliens: Colonial Marines
Licensed games have a certain reputation: They come with an expectation that they just won't be that good.
Unfortunately, this is more than likely always the case with a very few diamonds in the rough ever escaping the bargain bins across the world. And of course, Aliens: Colonial Marines is no different.
What didn't help this game was that the demos show left all pretty damn hopeful, with the titular Aliens seemingly being clever, yet terrifying. Which is a very rare thing to master in an action game. Not only that, but the graphics and lighting on offer looked phenomenal for the time, but when this game finally launched we all know this wasn't the case.
With so much scuttlebutt surrounding Colonial Marines, it's hard to actually what went wrong. With rumours or Gearbox shifting money from Aliens over to their upcoming Borderlands being one of the greatest offences. Though when it comes down to it, this wasn't fun to play. Years later it was discovered that some broken code all but destroyed the Alien A.I.
So honestly, if this was noticed before launch, Colonial Marines might've actually been playable and not resulted in a lawsuit.
