10 Worst Video Game Launches EVER

SOCOM 4 never really got a fair shot, with it unfortunately launching on PlayStation during a somewhat tumultuous time.

We are now 10 years removed from this, but back in 2011, an infamous hack left the PlayStation Network completely offline. Lasting for 23 days, The Great PSN Outage cost Sony millions, but one of the most unfortunate victims of all this, after the dust had settled, had to be SOCOM 4.

More than likely leading to the untimely closure of Zipper Interactive, the outage hit the day after SOCOM launched. This of course killed any hopes Zipper and Sony had for the game or the franchise going forward, as people could play this game to its full potential. As with most shooters, it greatly relied on the online component.

Once PSN recovered, SOCOM never found its feet and on January 28, 2014, online multiplayer servers were shut down, effectively killing this game and the franchise for good.

Sony really doesn't have anything like SOCOM in their current offering of titles, but here's to giving this a proper shot at redemption on PS5.
