10 Worst Video Game Launches EVER
5. Sim City 2013
The Sims brand might be one of the most successful video game brands out there. With endless playtime and a never-ending wave of expansions, the home building sim is truly a juggernaut. Now whilst the city-builder series didn't quite reach the same rights, it was still damn popular.
So when news hit that EA was going to finally put out a sequel with new features and improved graphics, the fan base at first was, of course, full of joy upon this announcement. Though when the game launched in 2013, it was a mess.
For some strange reason that can only be traced back to "business people", the game was required to always be online. Now this was annoying and not the worst thing in the known universe, but when the game launched, servers were busted. Combined with software and download issues, this meant the game never really got going and in 2015, Maxis' Emeryville studio was closed.
An offline mode was added, but it was already too late for Sim City. These days it has been overtaken by the likes of City Skylines and Surviving Mars, leaving no real hunger for another proper Sim City title.
