4. Star Wars Battlefront II

The second appearance from EA on this list and sadly, this one didn't want to challenge everything like the tagline of old. No, the second Battlefront offering just wanted to challenge your bank balance.

Due to the growing popularity of microtransactions, selling a boxed game just isn't enough for the big publishers anymore. Yes, there is the argument of inflation and games not rising to that, but there has to be another way than simply making the game such a grind that we all have to fork out for Darth Vader.

Thanks to EA, the loot box market was blown wide open... and then almost brought down overnight. Sure some games would still hold onto this model and overs would even drop them on Normandy Beach in such bad taste, but after laws would change.

EA would make a hard turn away from this model and actually turn Battlefront II into a great experience, with tons of updates and fixes along the way. Now widely seen as a great game and one of the best in the series, Battlefront II won't quite ever shake that stink from its terrible launch.
