7. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords
The convoluted title isn't the only thing wrong with Obsidian's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords. The original game was a fantastic RPG that remains the best example of a video game encompassing George Lucas's expanded universe, and the sequel, though adopting the same mechanics, was basically ruined by what was clearly a development window the developers just could not meet. Though not in the hands of the same developers as the first game, it should not have been too difficult to take the original framework and just build on it a little; what clearly wounded the game most was that it was basically released unfinished, something corroborated by the fact that exploring the game's files shows lots of missing data. But it's how this transpires into the final game that matters; the plot isn't developed with the same amount of care as the first game, and the gameplay is already riddled with a bunch of problematic bugs. Most irritating of all, though, is the ending, which just feels incredibly tacked on in order to meet the game's release date. You're simply given binary options, and that's it; we don't get any closure or catharsis at the end of the game. Still, we hope that one day we'll get a third game in the series that might rectify this glaringly flawed sequel to a brilliant original title.
