10 WORST Video Game Weapons

7. Shotgun - Mass Effect 1

The original Mass Effect had a lot of problems. From Bioware taking way too long to understand that maybe players WANT to romance the alien raptor sniper man instead of Kaiden "actual hunk of cardboard" Alenko, to the shooting being nowhere near as up to snuff as the following three games, to of course, not quite understanding how shotguns work.

Of course, this being an RPG, shotguns work just fine as long as you upgrade them, but even at the base level, the other guns at your disposal are just way more practical to use.

Unless you're taking on husks that NEED a close quarters, wide spread solution to the problem they introduce, you're just better off sticking to the assault rifle.

As they stand at base level, most shotguns are just too weak to stand as a viable alternative to the longer lasting and longer range assault rifle or the far reaching sniper rifle. It's only this far down by virtue of the leveling system in this game allowing you to fix this issue relatively quickly if you really focus on your shotgun stat, but other than that, just stick with the assault rifle.
