10 Worst Video Games Of 2018
8. Agony
This survival horror romp at least deserves some measure of credit for being one of the best-looking trainwrecks of the last few years. Unlike Fallout 76, it can actually hold a stable frame-rate and the slick textures are pleasant to look at.
But that's basically where the praise stops.
After an atmospheric opening sequence, Agony quickly drops the pretence and confirms itself to be a bland bore entirely lacking any discernible personality. Even if you're left unfazed by the game's rather flippant approach to sexual violence, the core gameplay just isn't fun.
Focused largely on a repetitive glut of stealth set-pieces hampered further by insta-death and sparse checkpointing, Agony at least lives up to its title.
Hopefully the team members responsible for the sound and visuals at least landed on their feet, because their genuinely strong work deserved so much better than...this.
