10 Worst Video Games Of 2018
7. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn
This crowd-funded reboot of the infamous 1994 beat 'em up Shaq Fu is at least a worthy follow-up, in that it's a similarly lousy game you absolutely shouldn't play.
This re-imagined, monotonous three-hour side-scroller surely suffers through the most problematic identity crisis of any game released in 2018.
On one hand fundamentally self-aware of its own lame plotting and throwback gameplay yet also shamelessly racist without even the faintest wink or nudge, the new Shaq Fu has no idea what it wants to be nor who it's trying to appeal to.
In addition to being gross it's also thoroughly boring, forcing the player to battle against not only repetitive enemies but also the game's own stiff combat.
Checkpoints are sparse and occasional difficulty spikes are infuriating, while voiceover work from the man himself is laboured at best, and the game's over-abundance of outdated pop-culture references quickly becomes tiresome.
At least there's a mildly amusing DLC where you play as Barack Obama, but that's about it.
