10 Worst Video Games Of 2018

5. Overkill's The Walking Dead

Taking the Left 4 Dead formula and pasting it into a licensed The Walking Dead game might seem like a cynical move, but it's also one which should prove at least cursorily effective.

Payday developers Overkill Software demonstrated that's easier said than done with this dreadfully boring, roughshod co-op survival horror game.

Announced over four years ago and released on PC with a suspicious whisper last month, expectations weren't exactly high, yet Overkill's The Walking Dead can't even capture the simple thrill of squad-based zombie slaughter.

Hurling players into an array of painfully generic missions and locales, there's absolutely nothing unique about anything the game has to offer, which generally alternates between killing waves of Walkers, building defences and foraging for resources.

Gunplay is the game's most passable asset, but visually it all looks rather dated - even when played with Ultra settings in 4K - and unsurprisingly turned out a commercial flop for publisher Starbreeze.

What a waste of an IP filled with so much tie-in potential.
